All Will Be Revealed, Maybe Later [Battlestar Galactica]

If you haven’t seen the mid-season finale, Revelations, please check it out. Worth every second.

Spoilers Ahead

Besides being arguably the best ass kicking episode we’ve seen since Season 2, the mid-season finale of Battlestar Galactica threw a major plot twist at fans.

So, surprisingly, the fleet and the cyclons skip to Earth hand-in-hand, after an newly formed alliance that about as stable as Lindsay Lohan without her happy pills. The humans can’t trust the cylons because, after all, the machines nuked their homeworlds. The cylons can’t trust the humans because…well,  the humans will never forgive the toaster for nuking said homeworlds. See the conundrum. So they get to Earth and there’s no juicy nectarines, gushing springs or chewy bounding deer meat—just soupy fallout stew and radioactive dirt. Sucks for them.

Seriously, this ep raised more questions than answers. I mean, where do the humans and the cylons go from here? And frankly, what’s the payoff gonna be now? To reiterate the sentiments of Admiral Adama, the new “cooperation”between the humans and cylons is tenuous. Adama knows once the chips are down both parties’ fears will implode under the pressure. It’s only a matter of time before Athena off and guts another Six with a slug or  Tyrol finds out exactly who (Tory) airlocked his wife, Cally.

One problem I had with Revelations is the shady non-reveal of the final cylon. D’Anna (3) claimed to know the identities of the final five cylons, but when it came time to reveal the fifth cylon, only stated that the fifth was not onboard Galactica. Does that mean the fifth is on another ship? Is the fifth dead? Very shady.

Alas, the show tagline, All Will Be Revealed will have to wait until sometime after January when the show returns. Here’s a round-up of some of the reviews for Revelations.

Caprica City

The news on the Battlestar Galactica spin-off, Carpica, keeps on coming. Esai Morales—who starred most recently in the twice canceled fan favorite, Jericho—has been hired to play William Adama’s poppy, Joseph Adama.

Morales’ casting comes on the heels of news that former Deadwood actress Paula Malcomson had been signed to play Amanda Graystone. According to SyFy Portal, the Adamas befriend the Graystones, creators of what would eventually become the Cylons.

Battlestar Galactica Prequel “Caprica” Casts First Lead [Caprica]

Caprica City

According to SyFy Portal the folks over at the SciFi Channel have cast former Deadwood actress, Paula Malcomson, to play Amanda Graystone in the Battlestar Galactica prequel, Caprica. Accounts describe Graystone as the matriarch of the family. Caprica takes place 50 years before the current re-imagining of Battlestar Galactica.

I’m not sure yet how I feel about Caprica. According to spoilers I’ve read, it seems intriguing but without the guidance of Ron Moore, is it gonna fly?

Erykah Badu is the Final Cylon [Badu]

Erykah Badu

Seriously, this chick is on some otherworldly sh*t. Her eyes are as sexy as Boomer’s, she can flip on crazy god talk like Caprica Six and she makes as much sense sometimes as Leoben.

What I Learned Today [Daily Roundup]

ATL chix like to intimidate old ladies on the subway by spazzin’ out off Soulja Boy lyrics.

Shorties beat each other’s tiny brains out UFC style in the streets of Jamaica and dance like they have MS.

This guy is a true buzz kill. It’s a comic! Easy.

The final cylon could be Starbuck’s Mark II ship which is total crap because we all know its Galactica itself that’s the final cylon.

Amy Winehouse is still a brilliant crackhead but won’t be singing the James Bond theme for the next flick.

Dreams die hard. Not for this guy however. He gave it all up for a game called BulletBall.

Wiretapping is EXTREMELY easy.

Last Supper Pic

Kinda spoilery

The more I think about who the final cylon may be on my favorite show, Battlestar Galactica, the more I think we’ll all be suprised by the reveal. Here’s one theory that has me especially intrigued. It’s a bit wordy and most of it makes no sense, but it’s as good as anything else I’ve read.

Also interesting is this indepth analysis of the Galactica Last Supper promo pic released before prior to Season 4.

The folks over at Galactica Watercooler do an excellent roundup every week.

Galactica Sitrep does it up so frakking well too with some theories on the Ship of Lights.

I’ll check out the latest episode some time tomorrow morning.

Firefly Boxset Comes To Bluray And I’m Not Biting [Bluray]

I heard about this a few days back since many Battlestar Galactica fans almost always are Browncoats too, but Bwana reminded me. However truebelievers, I’m not going to fall for the okee-doke this time. I will not buying a Bluray player. I repeat, I will not be buying a Bluray player, atleast until the prices come down, and maybe not even then.

Why? Well CDs, DVDs and physical media in general will be dead in less than 5 years. You asked. We’ll talk more about this later.

Why Geek In The Ghetto?

I have a few insights, I suspect, on how technology is and is not being used by black folks, the disenfranchised, urban dwellers and Americans in general. I hope to impart my perspective, which is probably not all that unique, with the blogosphere.

Not sure if I technically qualify as a geek but I’ve written basic on a TRS-80 so you decide. I hope to breed little black geeks someday, too. We’ll be connected to the world and each other on the latest iPhone, read X-men back issues online, torrent BSG and camp out beneath the stars at ultimate geek shrine…The Apple Store.
